Meet our lead consultant, Dr. Marcus Mohlin, a seasoned professional with a rich tapestry of experience weaving through the realms of academia, military, and the private sector. With a dynamic career spanning across such diverse sectors, Marcus has established himself as a strategic thinker, thought leader, and analytical mind.
In the military, Marcus excelled, completing a Higher Command Course at the Swedish Defense University in 2007 and then going on to undertaking impactful roles at the Armed Forces Headquarters. His main role was as lead for long-term analysis, using foresight methodology and horizon scanning as tools to develop future scenarios for year 2040.
Transitioning effortlessly into academia, Marcus earned his Doctoral degree from the Defense University in Helsinki, Finland, in 2012. A stalwart at the Swedish Defense University in Stockholm, he held influential roles such as Assistant Professor and Director of Education, emphasizing strategic planning and long-term guidance.
Marcus’s journey extended to the private sector, where he served as a Senior Advisor and Senior Research Fellow at Future Forum, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. His contributions have included fostering quality assurance, developing new processes, and advising ministries of defense in Moldova and Georgia. His international contributions as a NATO Expert in the Caucasus region played a pivotal role in enhancing the capabilities of a university there.
What distinguishes Marcus is not only his extensive professional background but also his dedication to knowledge dissemination. With a robust portfolio of publications in international peer-reviewed journals, including notable works like ”The Panama Canal – China’s Elusive Chess Piece,” ”A Panama Canal for Asia,” and ”Climate Change as a Defining Factor in Allied Military and Counterterrorism Operations,” Marcus has significantly impacted the academic landscape.
Dr. Mohlin has also been chairman of the Board at prestigious international schools in both Southeast Asia and in East Africa, clearly illustrating his passion for education and leadership as well as good governance.
Beyond the professional realm, Marcus is a family man and a globetrotter, finding solace in exploring off-the-beaten-track destinations. His favorite places, Kathmandu, Nepal, and Srinagar, Kashmir, reflect his adventurous spirit.
